HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE 2008-2009 SEASON

  • BACH TO THE ABBEY MEMBERS' RECITAL: On Friday, July 25, 2008, the chapter held its ninth annual Bach and Beyond concert at Marmion Abbey, Aurora.
  • Festivals of the Church Year (A Progressive Recital and Hymn Sing): on September 21, 2008 Sunday 4:00 PM at Glen Ellyn Churches.
  • Organ Recital by Thomas Murray: October 19, 2008 Sunday 4:00 PM at Rockefeller Chapter in Chicago.
  • American Boy Choir in Concert: October 26, 2008 Sunday 4:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Glen Ellyn.
  • Organ Recital by Ignace Michiels: November 21, 2008 Friday 8:00 PM at Edman Chapel at Wheaton College.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE 2007-2008 SEASON

  • ENCOUNTER WITH THE ORGAN: We had eighteen youth, eighteen organs, and eighteen AGO volunteer teachers got together on Saturday, July 21, 2007 for this year's "Encounter with the Organ." This grand event happened in Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, Lombard, and Carol Stream.
  • BACH TO THE ABBEY MEMBERS' RECITAL: Aat the Marmion Abbey Friday, July 27, 2007.
  • ORGAN RECITAL WITH MARK LAUBACH: This was a great event at Edman Chapel on the campus of Wheaton College on Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at 8:00 PM.
  • ORGAN CRAWL TO VALPARAISO, INDIANA: This was a great event at Valparaiso University and other churches in the Valparaiso, Indiana area on Saturday, October 13, 2007.
  • HYMN FESTIVAL WITH DR. TIMOTHY ALBRECHT: This was a great event at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Elgin on Sunday, November 18, 2007.
  • EPIPHANY HYMN FESTIVAL: This was a great event at Gary United Methodist Church Wheaton on Sunday, January 13, 2008.
  • YOUNG ORGANISTS FESTIVAL: This was a great event at St. Petronille Catholic Church in Glen Ellyn on Saturday, February 2, 2008.

  • CHARLES CALLAHAN IN RECITAL: On Friday, September 8, 2006 we heard Charles Callahan in Concert at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Wheaton playing their new Rodgers 39 rank pipe plus 80+ ranks of digitals organ.
  • MEMBERS RECITAL: Members Recital at Geneva United Methodist Church, 211 Hamilton Street in Geneva on Sunday, October 22, 2006. Nine of our members will play a wide range of organ selections.
  • DUO KEYBOARD RECITAL WITH MARK EDWARDS AND KARIN REDEKOPP: This was a great event at Baker Memorial United Methodist Church in St. Charles on Sunday, November 12, 2006.
  • CHORAL FESTIVAL FEATURING MICHAEL BURKHARDT: This was a great event at Christ Church of Oak Brook on Saturday, January 27, 2007.
  • CONCERT OF MUSIC FOR ORGAN AND BRASS: This was a great event at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Aurora on Sunday, February 18, 2007.

  • BACH AND BEYOND AT THE ABBEY MEMBERS' RECITAL: This was a great event at the Marmion Abbey in Aurora on Friday, July 30, 2004.
  • ORGAN CRAWL IN HINSDALE: Organ Crawl in Hinsdale on Saturday, September 18, 2004.
  • ORGAN RECITAL FEATURING GERRE HANCOCK: Organ Concert featuring Gerre Hancock on Friday, September 24, 2004.
  • TWO MASTER CLASSES FEATURING GERRE HANCOCK: Two Master Classes on the topic of Improvisation were lead by Gerre Hancock on Saturday, September 25, 2004 at College Church in Wheaton.
  • HOW TO COMMISSION A NEW WORK: Frank Ferko, composer lead a workshop on "How to Commission a New Work" on Saturday, October 9, 2004 at First United Methodist Church in Glen Ellyn.
  • ORGAN RECITAL FEATURING DAN MILLER: Dan Miller in Concert on Sunday, November 7, 2004 at First Presbyterian Church, River Forest.
  • YOUNG ORGANISTS FESTIVAL: Fox Valley AGO's annual "Young Organists' Festival" was held on Saturday, January 15, 2004 at St. Petronille's Roman Catholic Church in Glen Ellyn.
  • GERMAN HYMN FESTIVAL: German Hymn Festival at College Church in Wheaton on Sunday, January 30, 2005.

  • MUSIC SWAP AND BREAKFAST: Music Swap and Breakfast Meeting on Saturday, March 5, 2005 at First United Methodist in Glen Ellyn.
  • ORGAN FIELD TRIP: Organ Field Trip on Saturday, April 2, 2005 to see and play the new Fisk Organ at St. Chrysostom's Episcopal Church in Chicago.

  • CARLO CURLEY RECITAL: Carlo Curley in Concert at Sts. Peter and Paul R. C. Church in Naperville on Friday, October 24, 2003.
  • MARSHA FOXGROVER, ORGANIST AND TIMOTHY BOTTS, GRAPHIC ARTIST: Marsha Foxgrover, organist, and Timothy Botts, graphic artist, at First United Church in Oak Park on Sunday, November 20, 2003.
  • TWELFTH NIGHT / EPIPHANY CHORAL EVENSONG SERVICE: Twelfth Night / Epiphany Choral Evensong Service on Sunday, January 4, 2003 on the Berghaus Organ at St. Joh'sn Episcopal Church in Naperville.
  • ANNUAL SKILLS WORKSHOP: Annual Skills Workshop on Saturday, January 24, 2004. YOUNG ORGANIST FESTIVAL: Young Organist Festival for middle school and high school students on Saturday, March 6, 2004 was held at St. Petronille's Catholic Church, Glen Ellyn.
  • FESTIVAL OF ENGLIGH AND IRISH HYMNS AT COLLEGE CHURCH: A Festival of English and Irish Hymns at College Church in Wheaton on Sunday, February 22, 2004.
  • ANNUAL DINNER AND RECITAL BY JANE HOLSTEIN AND JOEL RANEY: Annual Meeting at St. Raphael's Church in Naperville on Monday, May 10. Bill Berg, Host. The Dinner is prepared by Jean Spyksma. The business meeting followed. The Program was presented by Jane Holstein, organist, and Joel Raney, concert pianist.
